Terms and Conditions

Dashe — Carbon Emission Tracking App

Last updated: 25 March 2026

1. About These Terms

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Dashe mobile application and associated services (together, the "Service"), operated by Greenleaf TDG, a company registered in the United Kingdom ("we", "us", "our").

By creating an account or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not use the Service.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

2. Eligibility

To use the Service, you must:

  • Be at least 16 years of age.
  • Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.
  • Provide accurate and complete information when creating your account.

If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you have the authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

3. The Service

Dashe is a carbon emission tracking application that:

  • Automatically detects and records your journeys using GPS and activity recognition.
  • Classifies your mode of transport (driving, walking, cycling, and other modes).
  • Calculates and displays your carbon emissions based on your journeys and registered vehicles.
  • Allows you to join an organisation for corporate carbon reporting.
  • Provides car sharing features to split emissions among journey participants.
  • Enables you to log work schedules and holidays for commute analysis.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We will use reasonable efforts to notify you of significant changes that affect your use of the Service.

4. Pricing and Subscriptions

4.1 Individual Users

The Dashe mobile app is free to download and use for individual users. There is no charge for journey tracking, emission calculation, or any personal features of the Service.

4.2 Business Subscriptions

Organisations that wish to access the Dashe web application, reporting dashboards, and organisational data features must purchase a paid subscription ("Business Subscription"). Business Subscriptions are priced based on headcount and site count and are subject to a separate subscription agreement between Greenleaf TDG and the subscribing organisation.

4.3 Subscription Terms

The following terms apply to Business Subscriptions:

  • Billing: Subscription fees are invoiced in accordance with the subscription agreement. All fees are quoted exclusive of VAT, which will be added where applicable.
  • Payment: Fees must be paid by the due date specified on the invoice. We reserve the right to suspend access to the web application and organisational features if payment is not received within 30 days of the due date.
  • Changes to pricing: We may change our subscription pricing with at least 30 days' written notice before the start of your next billing period. If you do not agree to the new pricing, you may cancel your subscription before the new pricing takes effect.
  • Cancellation: Either party may cancel a Business Subscription in accordance with the terms of the subscription agreement. Upon cancellation, the organisation's access to the web application and reporting features will end at the conclusion of the current billing period.
  • Refunds: Subscription fees are non-refundable except where required by law or as otherwise agreed in writing.
  • Individual users are not affected: Cancellation of a Business Subscription does not affect the accounts or data of individual users who were part of the organisation. Those users may continue to use the free mobile app.

5. Your Account

5.1 Account Creation

You must create an account to use the Service. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep your account information up to date.

5.2 Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree to notify us immediately at support@dashe.ai if you become aware of any unauthorised use of your account. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your account credentials.

5.3 One Account Per Person

Each person may only maintain one account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate duplicate accounts.

6. Permissions and Device Access

To provide the Service, the Dashe app requires access to certain features on your device:

Permission Why It Is Needed Required
Location (Always / Background) Automatic journey detection and tracking, even when the app is not in the foreground Yes (core functionality)
Activity Recognition Detecting your mode of transport (walking, driving, cycling, etc.) Yes (core functionality)
Motion and Pedometer Supporting transport mode classification and step counting Yes (core functionality)
Notifications Alerting you about journey updates, organisation invitations, and service messages Optional

You may revoke these permissions at any time through your device settings. However, revoking required permissions will prevent core features of the Service from functioning.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service lawfully and in accordance with these Terms. You must not:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other users' accounts, or our systems and networks.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the app, except where permitted by law.
  • Use automated scripts, bots, or other tools to access or interact with the Service without our prior written consent.
  • Submit false, misleading, or inaccurate information to the Service, including falsified journey data or vehicle details.
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
  • Use the Service to collect, harvest, or store personal data of other users without their consent.
  • Share your car share session codes publicly or use them to manipulate emission data.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms.

8. Organisations

If you join an organisation within Dashe (for example, your employer):

  • Certain journey and emission data may be shared with your organisation's administrators for the purpose of corporate carbon reporting, as described in our Privacy Policy.
  • Your organisation may set policies or schedules that affect how your journeys are categorised (e.g. commute vs. personal travel).
  • You may leave an organisation at any time through the app. Data already shared with the organisation in aggregated form may not be retrievable.
  • Organisation administrators are responsible for their own use of data shared through the Service and must comply with applicable data protection laws.

9. Car Sharing

The car sharing feature allows multiple Dashe users to link their journeys and split carbon emissions among occupants. When using this feature:

  • You are responsible for sharing your car share session code only with the intended participants.
  • Emission calculations are based on the number of participants who join the session and the vehicle details provided.
  • We are not responsible for inaccurate emission splits caused by incorrect participant counts or users failing to join or leave a session.

10. Vehicle Data and DVLA Lookups

The Service allows you to register vehicles using your vehicle registration number. When you do so:

  • We look up publicly available vehicle information (make, model, fuel type, CO2 emission rate) from DVLA data.
  • You confirm that you are the registered keeper of the vehicle or have the keeper's permission to register it.
  • Vehicle data is used solely for carbon emission calculations. We do not share your registration number with third parties except as necessary to perform the lookup.
  • We do not guarantee the accuracy of data provided by external sources such as the DVLA. If the data appears incorrect, please contact us.

11. Accuracy of Data and Emissions

Please read this section carefully.

Dashe uses GPS, activity recognition, and vehicle data to estimate your carbon emissions. While we strive for accuracy, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • Emission calculations are estimates and should not be treated as precise scientific measurements.
  • GPS accuracy can be affected by environmental factors (buildings, tunnels, weather), device hardware, and battery-saving settings.
  • Automatic transport mode detection may occasionally misclassify your mode of travel. You can correct this manually within the app.
  • Emission factors are based on published averages and may not reflect the exact emissions of your specific vehicle under specific driving conditions.
  • We update our emission factors and calculation methods periodically, which may result in changes to historical data.

You should not rely solely on Dashe data for regulatory reporting, legal compliance, or any purpose requiring certified emission measurements.

12. Intellectual Property

12.1 Our Rights

All intellectual property rights in the Service, including the app, its design, functionality, branding, logos, and content, are owned by Greenleaf TDG or our licensors. Nothing in these Terms grants you any rights to our intellectual property except the limited licence to use the Service as described below.

12.2 Your Licence

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download, install, and use the Dashe app on your personal device for your own personal or organisational use. This licence does not allow you to:

  • Copy, modify, or distribute the app or any part of it.
  • Sublicence, sell, lease, or rent the app or your access to it.
  • Use the app for any commercial purpose other than tracking your own or your organisation's carbon emissions through the Service.

12.3 Your Data

You retain ownership of the personal data you provide to the Service. By using the Service, you grant us a licence to process your data as described in our Privacy Policy for the purpose of providing and improving the Service.

13. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
  • Any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under English law.

Subject to the above, and to the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from viruses or other harmful components.
  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, business opportunity, or goodwill.
  • We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from inaccurate emission calculations, GPS errors, or misclassification of transport modes.
  • We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from actions taken by your organisation based on data shared through the Service.
  • Our total aggregate liability to you for any claims arising out of or in connection with the Service shall not exceed: (a) for individual users of the free mobile app, one hundred pounds (£100); or (b) for organisations with a Business Subscription, the total subscription fees paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

14. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Greenleaf TDG, its directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with:

  • Your use of the Service in breach of these Terms.
  • Your violation of any applicable law or regulation.
  • Any false or inaccurate information you provide through the Service.
  • Your infringement of any third party's rights.

15. Suspension and Termination

15.1 By You

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. To delete your account, use the account deletion option in the app or contact us at support@dashe.ai. Upon deletion, your data will be handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

15.2 By Us

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time if:

  • You breach these Terms.
  • We are required to do so by law.
  • We reasonably believe your account has been compromised.
  • We decide to discontinue the Service (in which case we will provide reasonable notice).

15.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination, your licence to use the Service ends immediately. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including Limitation of Liability, Indemnity, and Governing Law) will continue to apply.

16. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on third-party services including:

  • Firebase Authentication — for account management and login.
  • Google Maps — for map rendering and route display.
  • AWS — for backend infrastructure and data storage.

We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or performance of third-party services. Your use of third-party services is subject to their own terms and conditions. Outages or changes to third-party services may affect the availability or functionality of the Service.

17. App Store Terms

If you download the Dashe app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, you also agree to their respective terms of service. In the event of a conflict between these Terms and the app store terms, these Terms shall take precedence to the extent permitted.

You acknowledge that:

  • These Terms are between you and Greenleaf TDG, not with Apple Inc. or Google LLC.
  • Greenleaf TDG, not the app store provider, is solely responsible for the Service and its content.
  • The app store provider has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the Service.

18. Consumer Rights

If you are a consumer (an individual acting for purposes outside your trade, business, craft, or profession), nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, or any other applicable consumer protection legislation.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unfair under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, it will not bind you, but the remainder of these Terms will continue to apply.

19. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer, you may bring legal proceedings in the courts of the part of the United Kingdom in which you live. If you are a business, any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

We encourage you to contact us first at support@dashe.ai to resolve any dispute informally before taking legal action.

20. General

20.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Greenleaf TDG in relation to your use of the Service. They supersede all prior agreements, representations, and understandings.

20.2 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be enforced to the maximum extent permissible, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

20.3 Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision. Any waiver must be in writing and signed by Greenleaf TDG.

20.4 Assignment

You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations under these Terms to another party (for example, in connection with a merger or acquisition), in which case we will notify you.

20.5 Force Majeure

We shall not be liable for any delay or failure to perform our obligations under these Terms where such delay or failure results from events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, pandemics, strikes, government actions, power failures, or internet outages.
